Please first read 2Kings 13:20-21 NOW!!
Commenting on the above passage, one prominent Christian said, “It seems there was more power in the bones of dead Elisha than in some living Christians today!”
It is clear that Elisha not only raised dead bodies when he was still alive, he continued right on after his death and his ministry had no end. I imagine score of Israelites taking their dead relatives to his tomb after that incident.
But why just Elisha yet we also profess to believe in the same God? Acts 1:8 says “But you shall receive power…” Not just the apostles but YOU! Once you receive the Holy Spirit, He comes with the whole package (1 Thess. 1:5). The same spirit that raised Christ from the dead in pomp and glory is in us (Rom. 8:11). Now whether you use it or not making use of that whole package is another thing altogether.
For the Christian anyway, there’s only one option. Paul declares “I no longer live but Christ lives in me” (Gal. 2:20). Christ lives in us through the Holy Spirit. Now you either let Him live in you or you cease to live because there’s simply no other way to live!
No wonder some of us struggle to get rid of sin, habits, addictions etc. because we’re trying to live minus the Holy Spirit which is practically IMPOSSIBLE. We try to make an impact and even serve God using worldly means!
Paul reminds us that it is God who works in us to achieve His will (Phil 2:13). And while He is at it, He does more than we can ask or carnally imagine (Eph. 3:20). My challenge to you today is; what’s your relationship with the Holy Spirit? Will you let Him live in you and do greater works? (Jn. 14:12)
And hey! Did I mention that the Holy Spirit’s primary work is to make us witnesses? What? Read Acts 1:8 again!!
